We are having SO MUCH FUN being parents to this little boy! He makes us laugh a gazillion times every day!
Here's a sneak peek into some of things happening in his/our life lately:
Here at my parent's house we change him on a changing pad on a spare twin bed in his room. His favorite thing these days is to roll off the changing pad when he's diaper free and bask in the glory of his nakedness. He starts giggling like a mad man and usually sprawls out on the pillows striking model poses or stands up to look out the window, bare lower half for all to see. (Good thing we live in the country...) This boy absolutely loves being naked!
He's doing great with eating lately, mostly eating what we eat. Potato soup, pizza, grilled cheese, tuna noodle casserole. I still bring a jar of baby food with us when we go somewhere that I don't know what we're eating. It's a sure thing that he'll eat it and I'd rather feed him and make sure he's not a cranky guest than try to figure out what he might eat where we are. I recognize I need to start weaning off of that process soon...
I'm pretty sure that the mystery of why Alexander hasn't taken his first steps yet has been solved. On Friday night we were spending time with friends of ours and they had some sort of push and walk toy from their 2+ year old daughter. We had Alexander give it a shot and he thought it was the best thing ever! He took right off and was all smiles.
Then it clicked!
He LOVES pushing his stroller in the same way (throws a really nasty fit when we have to stop). And that's pretty much the only opportunity that we ever give him to stand up and get the feeling of walking on his own. I do things like lining our dining room chairs up so he can go back and forth and he definitely does the cruising thing around all of the furniture, but we didn't invest in any independent walk-encouraging toys for him. So, in came the one toy I totally forgot all about that's been sitting on the porch for months:
I've got to imagine that now that we've figured out the error of our ways, he'll be walking in no time! You can be sure the next kid will be up and at 'em by the time he's 2 months old! Just kidding, obviously.
His vocabulary and comprehension is, to be honest, a little bit shocking to us. I have to brag on my boy for a minute here and just say that he's making up for not walking by being a pretty big genius of a baby. Not only is he able to point to tons of things and identify them (both solicited and unsolicited), he also clearly understands a lot of concepts and which noises go with certain things/actions/animals, etc. We are amazed by his brain more and more every day.
And now for the most fun part of any blog post:
We didn't do the trick or treating thing, but Nana got him this Scooby Doo gear for the day!
pointing the way on our Mama and son trip to Highland Forest
one of his first couple days in the car seat facing forward. I LOVE being able to see him!
guitar lessons start early for Rezsnyak children
Papa and son sharing a chocolate chip cookie bar. Mmm!
our sweet sleeping boy. This is a pretty common position for him when we go in to check on him every night.
really into watching Sid the Science Kid (best show EVER!) in Grandpa's chair
Alexander, Mama and Great Grandpa Irwin.
Checking out the progress on our land!
Grandma and Grandpa Borek and Papa, the deforestation crew, taking a MUCH deserved Mickey D's break!
this is how Nana spent her time at a baby shower - the boy put her to work!
flipping through the Wegmans ad on the coffee table
the only picture I got from a visit with cousins Theo and Luke (and their mom, Jess!)
a typical messy face when he "helps" serve himself food
he has a strange tolerance, perhaps even like for the coon skin hat we brought back from Alaska.
Man, he's cute!
