Okay, I seem to have made a very large error in judgment. What was meant to be just a silly joke about how ultrasounds look pretty much all the same has offended, what turns out to be everyone I know. I am sorry for my comments, and I mean that. I'm asking all of you to please forgive me if I have hurt you with my words, this time, or any time in the past. I have a nasty habit of doing that, but I'm trying to get better. I meant no harm. And like I have said to a few people, we don't have any good ultrasounds yet, that's not for a couple more weeks, so there is still time for me to eat my words.
Mostly I want you all to know that I am VERY sorry for the comments I made.

I am with you Scott. Little alien baby thing. Extremely heart-warming when it's your kid, but just, well, exactly the same as everyone else's alien-looking kid. And BTW-- newborns aren't all that great-looking either. They are actually pretty ugly. Josiah was the WORST. Imagine 9 pounds and seven ounces of baby all squished up inside a uterus for 42 weeks... now come on, there just isn't a way to come out looking good...
I wasn't offended by your comments just confused as to what the big deal is. I disagree about all sonograms being the same. I (and maybe this is just the biologist in me) like looking at sonograms and playing the "what body part am I looking at game?" Its like a puzzle. While you obviously don't see the baby for an individual at this stage it is still fun to see the images.
And I disagree with Gwenn, Colin was a very good looking newborn! (but I'm biased!)
Hm, I just read your comment -- and I didn't find it even slightly offensive. Sonograms all do look similar, in my opinion -- how would they really look much different? They're black and white 2-dimensional pictures of 20ish week fetuses -- how much variation can there be? That being said, I can tell the difference between Sam and Ben's sonogram pictures! And, if the doctor's office has the 3D sonograms -- those are amazing and you WILL be able to see what your little guy/girl will look like when he/she is born.
All the buzz about sonograms... I remember the day... the first picture of a baby was in the hospital with him/her all swaddled in a blanket, girls with a bow.... people would try to figure out the sex of a baby by the size of Mom's belly, how often she had heartburn, when she first felt movement, if she slept on her left or right side, if she waddled when she walked, if the hair on her head was straight or frizzy when it rained, my goodness the progress in modern medicine is unreal. But.... either way this "precious child" is loved with or without knowing if it is a boy or a girl!
